Longtemps cantonn\u00e9e au r\u00f4le de muse mythique du surr\u00e9alisme, la figure myst\u00e9rieuse immortalis\u00e9e par Andr\u00e9 Breton en 1928 dans son r\u00e9cit Nadja se r\u00e9v\u00e8le enfin dans toute sa v\u00e9rit\u00e9, sa voix et sa complexit\u00e9 artistique. Le recueil “Lettres \u00e0 Andr\u00e9 Breton” l\u00e8ve le voile sur l\u2019identit\u00e9 r\u00e9elle qui se cachait derri\u00e8re ce pseudonyme : L\u00e9ona Camille Ghislaine Delcourt.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>N\u00e9e pr\u00e8s de Lille en 1902, L\u00e9ona Delcourt m\u00e8ne \u00e0 Paris une existence pr\u00e9caire et marqu\u00e9e par les difficult\u00e9s \u00e9conomiques, travaillant tour \u00e0 tour comme danseuse, actrice ou entra\u00eeneuse dans les bars. Lorsqu’elle croise Andr\u00e9 Breton au hasard des rues parisiennes en octobre 1926, elle se pr\u00e9sente sous le nom qu’elle s’est elle-m\u00eame choisi : Nadja. Ce pr\u00e9nom vient du mot russe signifiant \u00ab esp\u00e9rance \u00bb (nadiejda), qu’elle expliquait par ces mots : \u00ab parce qu’en russe c’est le commencement du mot esp\u00e9rance, et parce que ce n’en est que le commencement. \u00bb \u00c0 ce moment-l\u00e0, elle a 23 ans et est d\u00e9j\u00e0 m\u00e8re d’une fille. De leur br\u00e8ve liaison de neuf jours, suivie d’une correspondance intense jusqu’en f\u00e9vrier 1927, na\u00eetra le chef-d\u2019\u0153uvre du po\u00e8te.<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9 Breton gardera le souvenir marquant de leurs \u00e9changes, notamment autour des visions artistiques de la jeune femme. \u00c0 propos de leurs derniers moments partag\u00e9s, il \u00e9crivait d’ailleurs : \u00ab Mais les derniers dessins, alors inachev\u00e9s, que m’a montr\u00e9s Nadja lors de notre derni\u00e8re rencontre, et qui ont d\u00fb dispara\u00eetre dans la tourmente qui l’a emport\u00e9e, t\u00e9moignaient d’une tout autre science. \u00bb Le destin de la jeune femme s’av\u00e8re tragique : un mois apr\u00e8s la fin de leur \u00e9change \u00e9pistolaire, elle est intern\u00e9e \u00e0 la suite d’une crise d\u00e9lirante et finira ses jours \u00e0 l’asile de Bailleul, o\u00f9 elle meurt en 1941.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Ce volume paru dans la collection blanche rassemble 51 lettres et textes in\u00e9dits, des cartes postales et une s\u00e9lection exceptionnelle des dessins de Nadja. L’ouvrage restitue l’expression directe, lucide et profond\u00e9ment lyrique d’une cr\u00e9atrice dont l’univers d\u00e9passait le simple statut d’inspiration pour le chef de file des surr\u00e9alistes.<\/p>\n

En redonnant la parole \u00e0 L\u00e9ona Delcourt, le livre permet de d\u00e9passer le mythe litt\u00e9raire pour d\u00e9couvrir une v\u00e9ritable artiste \u00e0 la vision po\u00e9tique singuli\u00e8re, troublante et bouleversante.<\/p>\n
