Et si l’Histoire ne s’\u00e9crivait pas seulement avec des trait\u00e9s et des batailles, mais aussi \u00e0 l’encre des sentiments ? Avec cette carte blanche, le Mus\u00e9e postal (anciennement Mus\u00e9e de La Poste) \u00e0 Paris invite l’artiste Laurent Pernot \u00e0 faire revivre des fragments de lettres d’amour \u00e9crites en temps de guerre.<\/strong><\/p>\n

En plongeant directement dans les archives du mus\u00e9e, Laurent Pernot a exhum\u00e9 des courriers bouleversants, du Si\u00e8ge de Paris par l’arm\u00e9e prussienne en 1870 jusqu’aux conflits contemporains. Autant de t\u00e9moignages poignants de la tendresse, de l’attente et de l’absence, o\u00f9 l’on d\u00e9couvre des mots griffonn\u00e9s \u00e0 l’encre, parfois trac\u00e9s avec son propre sang face \u00e0 un destin tragique. Une travers\u00e9e m\u00e9morielle et intime \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir jusqu’au 15 f\u00e9vrier 2027.<\/p>\n

Des lettres comme derniers fragments de tendresse<\/h3>\n

Parmi ces courriers marqu\u00e9s par l’attente et l’absence surgit une correspondance inestimable : celle \u00e9chang\u00e9e entre Jean Cocteau et Jean Marais en juillet 1940, alors que l’acteur se trouve sur le front. S’emparant de ces quelques lignes, Laurent Pernot en prolonge l’\u00e9cho en sculptant des mots en bois br\u00fbl\u00e9, recopi\u00e9s \u00e0 la main dans l’\u00e9criture m\u00eame de Cocteau pour composer un mobile po\u00e9tique et a\u00e9rien. Une \u0153uvre suspendue qui s’ach\u00e8ve sur un vibrant \u00ab Je t’adore \u00bb, d\u00e9licatement soulign\u00e9 par la traditionnelle \u00e9toile-signature de l’artiste.<\/p>\n

Quand les mots poursuivent leur voyage<\/h3>\n

A travers “Lettres aux vents”, Laurent Pernot r\u00e9interpr\u00e8te des dizaines de correspondances transport\u00e9es par “ballons mont\u00e9s” pendant le Si\u00e8ge de Paris qui vit les Prussiens encercler la capitale. Imprim\u00e9s sur un papier japonais puis assembl\u00e9s en un mobile a\u00e9rien, des fragments de phrases rehauss\u00e9s de feuille d\u2019argent semblent reprendre leur voyage et porter au vent leurs messages.<\/p>\n

Plus loin, la projection vid\u00e9o Ne songer qu’\u00e0 t’aimer<\/i> op\u00e8re un pont troublant entre les \u00e9poques. L’installation fait d\u00e9filer des extraits de correspondances amoureuses r\u00e9dig\u00e9es par des anonymes en temps de guerre, mais les met en sc\u00e8ne sous la forme d’une conversation par messagerie instantan\u00e9e moderne. En adaptant ces archives \u00e0 l’esth\u00e9tique de nos \u00e9crans contemporains, l’\u0153uvre cr\u00e9e l’illusion d’un dialogue en temps r\u00e9el et r\u00e9v\u00e8le, avec une fulgurante modernit\u00e9, l’intemporalit\u00e9 de l’urgence et de l’amour face \u00e0 l’\u00e9preuve du feu.<\/p>\n

Une exposition sur la fragilit\u00e9 et la permanence<\/h3>\n

Une bo\u00eete aux lettres associ\u00e9e \u00e0 une bicyclette, toutes deux fig\u00e9es sous le givre, prolonge cette r\u00e9flexion po\u00e9tique sur le temps arr\u00eat\u00e9. L\u2019ensemble fait directement \u00e9cho au c\u00e9l\u00e8bre v\u00e9lo utilis\u00e9 dans le film Jour de f\u00eate<\/i> de Jacques Tati (1949), conserv\u00e9 au quatri\u00e8me \u00e9tage du mus\u00e9e. Si cette bicyclette \u00e9voque traditionnellement le trajet familier du facteur, la circulation du courrier et la promesse infaillible que les mots parviendront \u00e0 bon port, la sc\u00e8ne est ici comme suspendue. Le givre immobilise le d\u00e9cor, et la bo\u00eete aux lettres, orn\u00e9e de la simple mention \u00ab mon amour \u00bb, semble incapable de livrer son secret. Le temps s\u2019est brusquement fig\u00e9 dans cet intervalle suspendu entre l\u2019instant o\u00f9 le message est confi\u00e9 au monde et celui, incertain, o\u00f9 il esp\u00e8re toucher son destinataire.<\/p>\n

La grande d\u00e9licatesse de cette exposition tient finalement \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re dont Laurent Pernot \u00e9vite de cantonner ces correspondances au simple registre du pass\u00e9. Form\u00e9 \u00e0 la photographie avant de passer par Le Fresnoy, l’artiste plasticien poursuit ici un travail au long cours profond\u00e9ment ancr\u00e9 dans la question du temps, de la m\u00e9moire, de l’amour et de la disparition. En croisant vid\u00e9o, photographie, peinture, sculpture et installation, des m\u00e9diums qu’il n’a cess\u00e9 d’explorer dans ses projets pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents pour sonder les traces du passage du temps et l’empreinte des absents, il fa\u00e7onne de v\u00e9ritables espaces de contemplation. Il trouve dans ces archives postales une mati\u00e8re particuli\u00e8rement sensible pour prolonger son \u0153uvre : l’\u00e9criture manuscrite, arrach\u00e9e au silence de la guerre.<\/p>\n
