Lorsque son \u00e9ditrice lui propose de r\u00e9diger un texte entrant dans la collection \u00ab Une nuit au mus\u00e9e \u00bb chez Stock, Jean-Baptiste Del Amo h\u00e9site. Depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, l\u2019auteur d\u2019Une \u00e9ducation libertine<\/em> (prix Goncourt des lyc\u00e9ens en 2008) et du R\u00e8gne animal<\/em> (Prix du livre Fnac en 2016) voit sa vie lui \u00e9chapper, sa cr\u00e9ation se tarir. Il est atteint d\u2019une maladie g\u00e9n\u00e9tique invalidante et douloureuse qui lui \u00f4te toutes forces et tout d\u00e9sir d\u2019\u00e9crire. Pourtant, un sursaut lui fait accepter la proposition : il choisit de passer une nuit au mus\u00e9e du Prado, \u00e0 Madrid, pour se confronter aux \u00ab Peintures noires \u00bb de Francisco de Goya.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Le choix n\u2019a, bien s\u00fbr, rien d\u2019anodin. Le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre peintre espagnol du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle a lui aussi connu la souffrance au long cours : le corps qui se d\u00e9robe, l\u2019esprit qui se brouille, la maladie qui bouleverse le rapport au monde et transforme le geste. Devenu sourd vers l\u2019\u00e2ge de quarante ans, Goya voit son univers se fissurer au rythme de ses crises, sa palette s\u2019assombrir. Les sc\u00e8nes lumineuses et champ\u00eatres de sa jeunesse, les \u00ab\u00a0Peintures blanches\u00a0\u00bb, c\u00e8dent progressivement la place \u00e0 des visions cr\u00e9pusculaires, violentes, peupl\u00e9es de corps d\u00e9form\u00e9s, de visages hagards, d\u2019\u00eatres pris dans une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 inqui\u00e9tante. \u00ab Goya explore les ab\u00eemes de la condition humaine, passant de la d\u00e9nonciation des horreurs collectives \u00e0 la plong\u00e9e dans ses propres t\u00e9n\u00e8bres \u00bb, \u00e9crit l\u2019auteur.<\/p>\n

De l\u00e0 na\u00eetront, \u00e0 l\u2019automne de sa vie, les quatorze \u00ab Peintures noires \u00bb, r\u00e9alis\u00e9es entre 1819 et 1823 directement sur les murs en pl\u00e2tre de la Quinta del Sordo (la Maison du Sourd), pr\u00e8s de Madrid. Parmi elles, le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre Saturne d\u00e9vorant un de ses fils<\/em>, avec ce corps disloqu\u00e9 que la bouche du p\u00e8re semble d\u00e9j\u00e0 faire dispara\u00eetre, ou Le Chien<\/em>, dont la t\u00eate \u00e9merge \u00e0 peine d\u2019un espace sans horizon. Nulle complaisance pour autant ! Pour Jean-Baptiste Del Amo, ces oeuvres expriment moins la noirceur du monde qu\u2019un bouleversement dans la mani\u00e8re de le voir, qu\u2019il exp\u00e9rimente lui-m\u00eame \u00e0 travers ses propres \u00e9preuves. \u00ab Il t\u2019appara\u00eet que l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de la maladie est aussi celle d\u2019une forme d\u2019effraction et d\u2019une fragmentation du regard \u00bb, \u00e9crit-il, utilisant le \u00ab\u00a0tu\u00a0\u00bb tout au long de son r\u00e9cit pour se parler \u00e0 lui-m\u00eame. Une fa\u00e7on, superstitieuse, de tenir la maladie \u00e0 distance, tout comme son propre discours : \u00ab\u00a0Ne cours-tu pas un risque \u00e0 vouloir \u00e9crire sur l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de la maladie\u00a0?\u00a0\u00bb s\u2019interroge-t-il en effet d\u00e8s les premi\u00e8res pages.<\/p>\n

Pour autant, Jean-Baptiste Del Amo voit en l\u2019artiste aragonais une figure \u00ab fraternelle \u00bb et reconna\u00eet une travers\u00e9e qui lui est devenue \u00e9trangement famili\u00e8re. Entre l\u2019\u00e9crivain et le peintre s\u2019installe alors une conversation silencieuse, \u00e0 deux si\u00e8cles de distance. Une m\u00eame certitude les anime : une \u0153uvre peut surgir au c\u0153ur m\u00eame de la d\u00e9possession. L\u2019artiste convertit sa blessure en regard comme tant d\u2019autres l\u2019ont \u00e9galement fait, de Virginia Woolf \u00e0 Franz Kafka, Marcel Proust, Guy de Maupassant ou encore Herv\u00e9 Guibert. \u00ab\u00a0Tu cherches chez eux les intuitions, les augures, tu t\u2019int\u00e9resses la fa\u00e7on dont l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de la maladie conditionne leur recherche formelle\u00a0\u00bb explique-t-il.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Jean-Baptiste Del Amo ne dormira pas au Prado. L\u2019institution ne donnera pas son autorisation. Qu\u2019importe\u00a0! Apr\u00e8s une d\u00e9ambulation diurne dans les salles surcharg\u00e9es du mus\u00e9e, l\u2019\u00e9crivain poursuit son dialogue nocturne \u00e0 l\u2019ermitage de San Antonio de la Florida, son lit de camp d\u00e9pli\u00e9 \u00e0 quelques m\u00e8tres \u00e0 peine de la tombe du ma\u00eetre.
