Soixante-cinq ans apr\u00e8s sa parution originale et alors que l’on comm\u00e9more les 50 ans de la disparition de Raymond Queneau (1903-1976), les \u00e9ditions Gallimard propose une nouvelle \u00e9dition\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0raisonn\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0de\u00a0\u00a0“Raymond Queneau et l’OuLiPo –\u00a0Cent (mille milliards de) po\u00e8mes<\/em> \u00bb. Une fa\u00e7on de faire revivre cette \u0153uvre phare de la po\u00e9sie combinatoire qui r\u00e9sonne plus que jamais avec nos r\u00e9volutions num\u00e9riques.<\/b><\/div>\n

Le livre original est d\u00e9coup\u00e9 en languettes permettant de choisir chaque ligne d’un sonnet.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Le 7 juillet 1961, Gallimard publie un livre-objet totalement original : <\/span>Cent mille milliards de po\u00e8mes<\/em> de Raymond Queneau. Compos\u00e9 de dix sonnets d\u00e9coup\u00e9s en bandes horizontales vers par vers, cet ouvrage interactif invite le lecteur \u00e0 composer ses propres rimes. Comme l’explique Queneau dans son “mode d\u2019emploi”, l’inspiration ne vient pas des cadavres exquis surr\u00e9alistes, ce jeu litt\u00e9raire qui consiste \u00e0 composer un texte \u00e0 plusieurs mains. Elle \u00e9mane du livre pour enfants <\/span>T\u00eates de Rechange<\/em> (ou <\/span>T\u00eates folles)<\/em>, publi\u00e9 en 1948, et qui joue du p\u00eale-m\u00eale. En combinant les vers selon la m\u00e9trique du sonnet, le po\u00e8te co-fondateur de l\u2019OuLiPo (Ouvroir de Litt\u00e9rature Potentielle) est dans la droite ligne de l\u2019esprit de ce mouvement litt\u00e9raire qui allie lettres et math\u00e9matiques. Il met au point une v\u00e9ritable \u00ab machine \u00bb g\u00e9n\u00e9rative. La combinatoire offre en effet un potentiel th\u00e9orique de sonnets diff\u00e9rents, garantissant une lecture quasi infinie… de quoi avoir \u00e0 lire pendant pr\u00e8s de… deux cents millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es !<\/span>

“Une machine \u00e0 fabriquer des po\u00e8mes”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bien avant l’apparition des grands mod\u00e8les de langage et de l’intelligence artificielle g\u00e9n\u00e9rative, Raymond Queneau citait d\u00e9j\u00e0 Alan Turing (1912\u20131954), le p\u00e8re de l’informatique th\u00e9orique, en exergue de son mode d’emploi : \u00ab Seule une machine peut appr\u00e9cier un sonnet \u00e9crit par une autre machine \u00bb. En appliquant des contraintes math\u00e9matiques rigoureuses au langage naturel – le socle fondateur de l\u2019OuLiPo -, Raymond Queneau et ses comparses comme le math\u00e9maticien Fran\u00e7ois Le Lionnais ou l\u2019\u00e9crivain Georges Perec, ont anticip\u00e9 le fonctionnement m\u00eame de l’IA contemporaine : un syst\u00e8me algorithmique de r\u00e8gles, de probabilit\u00e9s et de permutations au service de la cr\u00e9ation textuelle.<\/p>\n

En pleine comm\u00e9moration des 50 ans de la mort de Raymond Queneau (25 octobre 1976), Cent (mille milliards de) po\u00e8mes<\/em> continue d’inspirer les cr\u00e9ateurs. Quatorze oulipiens ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 cette re-cr\u00e9ation. Les h\u00e9ritiers de Queneau sont nombreux, parmi lesquels l\u2019\u00e9crivain Herv\u00e9 Le Tellier, prix Goncourt, qui la pr\u00e9face – en tant que pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019OuLiPo – de cette \u00e9dition r\u00e9invent\u00e9e. Cette fois, les po\u00e8mes ne se pr\u00e9sentent plus sous forme de bandelettes mais sous celle d\u2019un ouvrage classique. Si les sonnets originaux restent les m\u00eames, l\u2019appareil critique a \u00e9t\u00e9 largement augment\u00e9 et la m\u00e9canique du jeu litt\u00e9raire est d\u00e9crypt\u00e9e et compl\u00e9t\u00e9e par la publication d’archives. Il s\u2019agit d\u00e9sormais davantage d\u2019une exploration litt\u00e9raire que d\u2019un pur jeu de l\u2019esprit.<\/p>\n
