La roche qui la constitue est dite \u00ab&nbsp;ophidienne&nbsp;\u00bb tirant son nom du grec <em>ophidis<\/em>, serpent. D\u00e9couverte en 1988, en Autriche, sur le site de Galgenberg, dat\u00e9e d\u2019il y a plus de 30 000 ans, la V\u00e9nus de Galgenberg est la statuette f\u00e9minine la plus ancienne jamais connue au monde. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La V\u00e9nus de Galgenberg est conserv\u00e9 dans l\u2019un des plus somptueux \u00e9difices de la Ringstra\u00dfe viennoise, situ\u00e9 sur la grande art\u00e8re de Vienne, le Mus\u00e9e d\u2019histoire naturelle, qui a ouvert ses portes en 1891. Il poss\u00e8de l\u2019une des plus vastes collections d\u2019objets naturels au monde. Parmi les pi\u00e8ces majeures, plusieurs figurines sculpt\u00e9es, et notamment la v\u00e9nus pal\u00e9olithique de Willendorf, datant de 24 000\u201322 000 av.\u00a0J.-C. La d\u00e9esse m\u00e8re est c\u00e9l\u00e8bre pour ses rondeurs.
