Surnomm\u00e9e la &#8220;Jeanne d&#8217;Arc de la Nouvelle Musique&#8221;, elle a bris\u00e9 les fronti\u00e8res entre la musique classique et les arts plastiques en int\u00e9grant des objets du quotidien et de la vid\u00e9o \u00e0 ses cr\u00e9ations sonores. Le Ch\u00e2teau de Montsoreau &#8211; Mus\u00e9e d&#8217;art contemporain rend hommage \u00e0 cette artiste hors norme. En d\u00e9cembre 2019, l&#8217;exposition met en lumi\u00e8re celle qui a fait de la musique une v\u00e9ritable mati\u00e8re \u00e0 cr\u00e9ation plastique.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"6\">Une musicienne prodige adopt\u00e9e par l\u2019avant-garde<\/h3>\r\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">Charlotte Moorman na\u00eet en 1933 \u00e0 Little Rock. D\u00e8s l&#8217;\u00e2ge de 11 ans, elle se prend de passion pour le violoncelle. Une d\u00e9cennie plus tard, elle int\u00e8gre la prestigieuse Julliard School de New York. Tr\u00e8s vite, la jeune femme refuse les codes stricts de la musique classique. Elle souhaite changer le r\u00e9pertoire du violoncelle. Les violoncellistes devaient alors transcrire des partitions pour violon ou piano. Charlotte Moorman choisit une autre voie : celle de l&#8217;improvisation. Son talent fascine les plus grands noms de l&#8217;\u00e9poque. Nam June Paik, Yoko Ono et Joseph Beuys rejoignent son cercle proche. La violoncelliste se lie \u00e9galement avec John Cage. Le compositeur utilise les bruits du monde comme source de cr\u00e9ation. De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, elle invente un nouveau rapport \u00e0 l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation. \u00c0 chaque performance, elle questionne la fronti\u00e8re entre le son et l&#8217;art visuel.<\/p>\r\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"11\">Lib\u00e9rer les sons et contester l&#8217;esth\u00e9tique<\/h3>\r\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12\">Charlotte Moorman collabore avec Wolf Vostell ou encore Joseph Byrd. Ensemble, ils d\u00e9composent les partitions classiques en \u00e9l\u00e9ments abstraits. L&#8217;artiste conteste l&#8217;esth\u00e9tique traditionnelle en utilisant des objets du quotidien. Elle int\u00e8gre \u00e0 ses performances des appareils \u00e9lectrom\u00e9nagers, du papier, la radio ou la vid\u00e9o. Cette d\u00e9marche visionnaire annonce les performances artistiques. En 1981, elle confie au magazine <i data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"139\">Art in America<\/i> sa volont\u00e9 de lib\u00e9rer les sons. Pour elle, les d\u00e9finitions acad\u00e9miques sont des cha\u00eenes autour de l&#8217;artiste. Moorman invite alors le public \u00e0 d\u00e9sapprendre les r\u00e8gles re\u00e7ues \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9cole. L&#8217;histoire retient aussi son audace face \u00e0 la censure. En 1967, la police de New York l&#8217;arr\u00eate en pleine rue pour sa performance <i data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"140\">Op\u00e9ra Sextronique<\/i>. Cette arrestation forge sa l\u00e9gende. Trente ans plus tard, la ville de New York lui rend un vibrant hommage.
