Dans l’ouvrage “Propos sur l’art et l’Intelligence artificielle”, paru en avril 2020 aux \u00e9ditions L’Art-dit, les auteurs, Marion Carr\u00e9 et Valentin Schmite, analysent le rapprochement de l\u2019art et de l\u2019intelligence artificielle au regard de leurs fonctionnements et des paradoxes qu\u2019ils soul\u00e8vent. En deux mots, tout comprendre sur l’IA dans l’art, mode d’emploi.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Marion Carr\u00e9 et Valentin Schmite sont les co-fondateurs d\u2019Ask Mona, une startup lanc\u00e9e en 2017 avec Thomas Victoria. L’entreprise d\u00e9veloppe des solutions d\u2019intelligence artificielle \u00e0 destination des institutions culturelles. Ces pionniers ont rassembl\u00e9s l’ensemble de leurs interventions lors d’\u00e9v\u00e9nements ou dans les \u00e9coles d’art pour synth\u00e9tiser leurs avanc\u00e9s dans le domaine de la cr\u00e9ation \u00e0 l’\u00e8re du digital.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Pour explorer la complexit\u00e9 du potentiel cr\u00e9atif, les auteurs analysent une \u0153uvre r\u00e9alis\u00e9e avec une intelligence artificielle, Cloud of Petals<\/em>, de l\u2019artiste franco-am\u00e9ricaine Sarah Meyohas. La machine a \u00e9t\u00e9 entra\u00een\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de plus de 100 000 images de p\u00e9tales de rose. Si l\u2019on observe les p\u00e9tales g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s par l\u2019intelligence artificielle, on pourrait croire qu\u2019il s\u2019agit de p\u00e9tales naturels. \u00c0 premi\u00e8re vue, l\u2019intelligence artificielle ne propose donc rien d\u2019original \u00e0 proprement parler, elle semble plut\u00f4t chercher \u00e0 imiter en g\u00e9n\u00e9rant une synth\u00e8se des images qui constituent le jeu de donn\u00e9es d\u2019entra\u00eenement.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Deux conceptions diff\u00e9rentes de la cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 : la cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 comme capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 imaginer des \u00e9l\u00e9ments originaux comme d\u00e9crit pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment, et la cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 comme capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 interpr\u00e9ter et combiner des \u00e9l\u00e9ments d\u00e9j\u00e0 rencontr\u00e9s dans le r\u00e9el. Dans la premi\u00e8re conception, c\u2019est l\u2019imagination qui permet au cr\u00e9ateur de proposer quelque chose d\u2019original. Dans la seconde conception, les id\u00e9es existent d\u00e9j\u00e0, mais l’intelligence artificielle vient en appui pour se r\u00e9-approprier une id\u00e9e. Ainsi, avec Cloud of Petals<\/em>, de nouvelles variations de p\u00e9tales sont g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es selon la seconde conception, ce qui incite \u00e0 reconna\u00eetre une forme de cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 \u00e0 la machine.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
