L\u2019\u0153uvre, intitul\u00e9e <em data-start=\"348\" data-end=\"358\">En gr\u00e8ve<\/em>, brouille les lignes entre sculpture contemporaine, happening politique et design de rue. Une cr\u00e9ation \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re : ces v\u00e9los reprendront leur service habituel sur les pistes cyclables parisiennes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"577\" data-end=\"1043\">Colen ne choisit pas ses mat\u00e9riaux au hasard. Depuis ses d\u00e9buts, il explore les formes de la r\u00e9volte et de l\u2019abandon. On l\u2019a vu peindre avec des chewing-gums m\u00e2ch\u00e9s, dresser des murs de graffitis copi\u00e9s de ses amis disparus, ou faire voler des plumes et des fleurs dans des installations spectaculaires. <em data-start=\"881\" data-end=\"891\">En gr\u00e8ve<\/em> poursuit ce travail sur l&#8217;\u00e9nergie collective, la tension, la suspension \u2014 ici dans une ville o\u00f9 la gr\u00e8ve est autant un sport national qu\u2019un cri social.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1604\">Form\u00e9 \u00e0 la prestigieuse <em data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1100\">Rhode Island School of Design<\/em>, Colen s\u2019est impos\u00e9 dans la sc\u00e8ne new-yorkaise au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 2000. Il partage alors son atelier avec Dash Snow, figure maudite de l\u2019art underground, avec qui il forme un duo embl\u00e9matique de la sc\u00e8ne post-punk arty du Lower East Side. Tr\u00e8s vite rep\u00e9r\u00e9 pour son esth\u00e9tique brute et narrative, il entre dans le giron de Larry Gagosian, galeriste star au flair redoutable, que <em data-start=\"1484\" data-end=\"1495\">ArtReview<\/em> a d\u00e9sign\u00e9 en 2025 comme la personnalit\u00e9 la plus influente du monde de l\u2019art \u2014 pour la 19e fois en vingt ans. Gagosian n\u2019a pas h\u00e9sit\u00e9 \u00e0 pousser Colen au-devant de la sc\u00e8ne internationale, l\u2019int\u00e9grant \u00e0 des expositions majeures \u00e0 Londres, Hong Kong, B\u00e2le ou Los Angeles. Ce soutien vaut \u00e0 l\u2019artiste un statut \u00e0 part : \u00e0 la fois h\u00e9ritier du pop art et trublion du march\u00e9, capable de dialoguer avec l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art tout en collant \u00e0 l\u2019actualit\u00e9 sociale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2000\" data-end=\"2361\">Avec <em data-start=\"2005\" data-end=\"2015\">En gr\u00e8ve<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gagosian.com\/artists\/dan-colen\/\">Dan Colen<\/a> signe \u00e0 Paris une \u0153uvre coup de poing, \u00e0 la fois critique urbaine et ballet m\u00e9canique, expos\u00e9e dans un lieu iconique du design et de la mode. Colette, qui fermera ses portes d\u00e9finitivement fin d\u00e9cembre 2017, lui offre une sc\u00e8ne id\u00e9ale pour dire l\u2019urgence, l\u2019\u00e9puisement et l\u2019\u00e9lan collectif.
