C\u2019est une confrontation magistrale entre Auguste Rodin et le photographe japonais Hiroshi Sugimoto,<\/b> 63 ans, que nous propose Larry Gagosian<\/a> dans sa galerie parisienne au 4 rue de Ponthieu, jusqu\u2019au 25 mars.
\nDeux ma\u00eetres de la lumi\u00e8re et du mouvement et, surtout, de l\u2019hymne au corps : la s\u00e9rie Stylized Sculpture (2007) d\u2019Hiroshi Sugimoto pr\u00e9sente, dans des noirs et blancs totalement \u00e9pur\u00e9s, les habits embl\u00e9matiques de couturiers c\u00e9l\u00e8bres issus de la collection de l\u2019Institut du Costume de Tokyo : la robe T de Madeleine Vionnet, la robe taille de gu\u00eape de Balenciaga, la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie stricte de la pi\u00e8ce d\u2019Yves Saint Laurent ou encore le jupon \u00e0 voile d\u2019Issey Miyake. Ces robes, dont les mouvements saisis par Sugimoto<\/a> r\u00e9pondent avec force aux corps de Rodin, vecteurs dont la fonction est d\u2019exprimer l\u2019\u00e2me par la tension, de transcrire dans la mati\u00e8re le caract\u00e8re tragique de la condition humaine.
\nL\u2019exposition donne un coup de jeune au ma\u00eetre dont trois \u0153uvres sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es : “Les Trois Ombres” (1880) provient de la collection priv\u00e9e d\u2019Iris Cantor, “Monument \u00e0 Victor Hugo” (1897), pr\u00eat de la tr\u00e8s renomm\u00e9e Fondation Iris et B. Gerald Cantor, et “La Muse de Whistler” (1908), pr\u00eat du mus\u00e9e Rodin. Ouverte \u00e0 Paris depuis octobre dernier, la galerie Gagosian, qui a d\u00e9j\u00e0 expos\u00e9 les \u0153uvres architecturales pr\u00e9fabriqu\u00e9es du designer Jean Prouv\u00e9 et les toiles r\u00e9centes du peintre am\u00e9ricain Cy Twombly, s\u2019impose d\u00e9j\u00e0 comme l\u2019une des galeries majeures de l\u2019hexagone.
