Le peintre n\u00e9erlandais a 35 ans. Il quitte Paris pour trouver une lumi\u00e8re plus intense. Son ami Paul Gauguin lui a souvent vant\u00e9 la beaut\u00e9 du Sud. Van Gogh tombe imm\u00e9diatement amoureux de la campagne proven\u00e7ale. Il abandonne son projet d&#8217;aller \u00e0 Marseille. L&#8217;artiste s&#8217;installe alors dans la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre \u00ab Maison Jaune \u00bb. Durant cette p\u00e9riode, il travaille sans rel\u00e2che. Il explore un style nouveau aux couleurs vibrantes. Ses recherches sont influenc\u00e9es par l&#8217;impressionnisme et les estampes japonaises. Il peint des paysages, des portraits et des natures mortes. Chaque toile utilise des touches de brosse \u00e9paisses et des couleurs franches.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2180 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/download-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"244\" height=\"304\" \/>La rencontre \u00e9lectrique de deux g\u00e9nies<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" data-path-to-node=\"9\">En octobre 1888, Paul Gauguin rejoint enfin Van Gogh \u00e0 Arles. Vincent r\u00eave de fonder un collectif d&#8217;artistes. Les deux amis partagent leur quotidien et leurs inspirations. Ils posent leurs chevalets devant les m\u00eames paysages arl\u00e9siens. Cependant, la cohabitation devient vite difficile. Leurs caract\u00e8res s&#8217;opposent. La consommation d&#8217;absinthe accentue les tensions. Surtout, leurs visions de la peinture divergent radicalement. Cette opposition est visible dans leurs tableaux des Alyscamps. Ce site romain offre un d\u00e9cor de sarcophages et d&#8217;arbres majestueux. Van Gogh y cherche l&#8217;\u00e9motion brute. Gauguin privil\u00e9gie la construction et l&#8217;imaginaire. En d\u00e9cembre, une dispute violente \u00e9clate. Van Gogh se tranche l&#8217;oreille. Gauguin quitte Arles d\u00e9finitivement.<\/p>\r\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"9\">Un h\u00e9ritage artistique vivant en Provence<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" data-path-to-node=\"13\">Apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9part de Gauguin, la sant\u00e9 mentale de Van Gogh d\u00e9cline. Il quitte Arles en mai 1889 pour s&#8217;interner \u00e0 Saint-R\u00e9my-de-Provence. Il meurt un an plus tard. Pourtant, son passage \u00e0 Arles reste la p\u00e9riode la plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre de sa carri\u00e8re. La ville d&#8217;Arles cultive pr\u00e9cieusement cet h\u00e9ritage. Elle est devenue un centre majeur de l&#8217;art contemporain en France. La cit\u00e9 accueille chaque ann\u00e9e les Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie. Les visiteurs peuvent admirer les vestiges romains class\u00e9s \u00e0 l&#8217;UNESCO. Ils peuvent aussi comparer les lieux r\u00e9els avec les tableaux de l&#8217;\u00e9poque. Le caf\u00e9 de la place du Forum n&#8217;a presque pas chang\u00e9 depuis 1888.
