Abim\u00e9s par la lumi\u00e8re, ces tableaux, qui ornaient la salle \u00e0 manger de la clinique d&#8217;Harvard, avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 mis \u00e0 l&#8217;abri dans les ann\u00e9es 80. L&#8217;artiste am\u00e9ricain les avait r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en 1961, honorant ainsi sa premi\u00e8re commande publique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les experts du centre d&#8217;\u00e9tudes et de conservation d&#8217;art moderne de l&#8217;Universit\u00e9 d&#8217;Harvard, avec le soutien du M.I.T. et de l&#8217;Universit\u00e9 de B\u00e2le, ont \u00e9tudi\u00e9 les pigments utilis\u00e9s par Rothko pour ces &#8220;Colorfield Painting&#8221; c&#8217;est-\u00e0-dire de \u00ab champs color\u00e9s \u00bb selon l&#8217;expression du critique d&#8217;art Clement Greenberg. Ils ont num\u00e9ris\u00e9 les donn\u00e9es chromatiques avant d&#8217;en \u00e9tablir la vibration chromatique qu&#8217;avait choisi l&#8217;artiste et d&#8217;en faire une projection sur les toiles elles-m\u00eames. Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 ing\u00e9nieux donne l&#8217;illusion d&#8217;une restitution. Employ\u00e9 en architecture, cette technique permet de restaurer virtuellement la polychromie m\u00e9di\u00e9vale.
