Il s&#8217;agit alors de sa toute premi\u00e8re commande publique. Ces cinq toiles ornaient la salle \u00e0 manger de la clinique d&#8217;Harvard. Malheureusement, la lumi\u00e8re naturelle a gravement ab\u00eem\u00e9 leurs pigments. Face aux d\u00e9g\u00e2ts, l&#8217;universit\u00e9 d\u00e9cide de mettre les tableaux \u00e0 l&#8217;abri au cours des ann\u00e9es 80.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"9\">Une restauration virtuelle par projection de lumi\u00e8re<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\">Des experts en art moderne ont collabor\u00e9 pour sauver ces chefs-d&#8217;\u0153uvre. Le centre de conservation d&#8217;Harvard a re\u00e7u le soutien du M.I.T. et de l&#8217;Universit\u00e9 de B\u00e2le. Ensemble, les scientifiques ont \u00e9tudi\u00e9 les pigments de ces &#8220;<i data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"60\">Colorfield Painting<\/i>&#8220;. Ce terme d\u00e9signe les \u00ab champs color\u00e9s \u00bb du peintre, selon le critique Clement Greenberg.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12\"><strong>Les chercheurs ont suivi des \u00e9tapes tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cises :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"13\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13,0,0\">Ils ont num\u00e9ris\u00e9 les donn\u00e9es chromatiques des toiles.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13,1,0\">Ils ont calcul\u00e9 la vibration color\u00e9e d&#8217;origine voulue par Rothko.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13,2,0\">Ils ont projet\u00e9 cette lumi\u00e8re exacte directement sur les tableaux.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14\">Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 ing\u00e9nieux offre une illusion parfaite. La restauration s&#8217;av\u00e8re totalement r\u00e9versible et sans aucun dommage pour l&#8217;art.<\/p>\n<h2 data-path-to-node=\"16\">Une technologie aussi utilis\u00e9e pour les cath\u00e9drales<\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"17\">Cette technique de projection ne se limite pas aux mus\u00e9es. Les architectes l&#8217;utilisent aussi pour redonner vie \u00e0 la polychromie m\u00e9di\u00e9vale. Le plus bel exemple se trouve en France, \u00e0 Amiens. Depuis 2008, la fa\u00e7ade de la cath\u00e9drale Notre-Dame s&#8217;illumine chaque soir.
