Record historique\u00a0!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dot\u00e9 d&#8217;une belle \u00e9corce verte brod\u00e9e de blanc, le melon surgit au premier plan.\u00a0Une\u00a0tranche orang\u00e9e\u00a0est pos\u00e9e en \u00e9quilibre, pr\u00eate \u00e0 \u00eatre\u00a0d\u00e9gust\u00e9e. \u00c0 ses c\u00f4t\u00e9s, prunes et p\u00eaches, un pichet qui attrape la lumi\u00e8re, deux bouteilles et quelques poires. Le\u00a0<em>Melon entam\u00e9<\/em>\u00a0est l\u2019un des fleurons des 120 natures mortes peintes par Chardin durant toute sa carri\u00e8re, et ce, d\u00e8s 1733.<\/p>\n<p>Autodidacte, Chardin s\u2019est hiss\u00e9 au rang de\u00a0peintre acad\u00e9micien\u00a0et b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d\u2019une confortable pension de la part du roi Louis XV\u00a0qui le loge au Louvre.\u00a0\u00a0Cette \u0153uvre\u00a0marque\u00a0l\u2019apog\u00e9e de son art. Tout juste r\u00e9alis\u00e9, le tableau est\u00a0pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 au Salon de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie royale de peinture et de sculpture de 1761 \u00e0 Paris, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de son pendant,\u00a0<em>Le Bocal d\u2019abricots<\/em>, conserv\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui au Canada, et du\u00a0<em>Panier de fraises des bois<\/em>, d\u00e9clar\u00e9 tr\u00e9sor national et acquis r\u00e9cemment par le mus\u00e9e du Louvre\u00a0pour un\u00a0montant\u00a0de 24 millions d\u2019euros r\u00e9unis gr\u00e2ce au m\u00e9c\u00e9nat.<\/p>\n<p>De forme ovale, le tableau\u00a0est une ode \u00e0 la rondeur\u00a0dans un d\u00e9licat toucher de peinture. C\u2019est un format in\u00e9dit pour le peintre,\u00a0c\u00e9l\u00e8bre de son temps\u00a0pour\u00a0ses natures mortes \u00e0 la composition d\u00e9licate et au coup de brosse qui semble inachev\u00e9 &#8211; dit\u00a0<em>non\u00a0finito &#8211;\u00a0<\/em>comme pour mieux donner vie \u00e0 ses \u0153uvres.
