Couleurs \u00e9clatantes, formes en mouvement, visages-objets… L\u2019exposition “Tous L\u00e9ger”, au Mus\u00e9e du Luxembourg \u00e0 Paris met en lumi\u00e8re l\u2019influence profonde de Fernand L\u00e9ger sur le mouvement des Nouveaux R\u00e9alistes. Son \u00e9cho va jusqu’\u00e0 Keith Haring ou encore Ben. Ce dialogue artistique r\u00e9v\u00e8le une fili\u00e8re d\u2019exp\u00e9rimentation plastique qui continue d\u2019irriguer la cr\u00e9ation contemporaine. \"\"L’invention du Nouveau R\u00e9alisme<\/h3>\n

“J’ai voulu d\u00e9truire l’impressionnisme, faire un art solide comme du fer sans bavures”, affirmait L\u00e9ger. D\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1920, Fernand L\u00e9ger pose les bases d\u2019une nouvelle appr\u00e9hension du r\u00e9el : il s\u2019agit de capter l\u2019\u00e9nergie, la mati\u00e8re et les rythmes. La ville moderne, ses machines et sa cadence deviennent ses sujets de pr\u00e9dilection. Ils sont trait\u00e9s par des formes simplifi\u00e9es et des couleurs franches. Quarante ans plus tard, le critique Pierre Restany, admirateur de L\u00e9ger, reprend cette id\u00e9e du “Nouveau R\u00e9alisme” en fondant un mouvement artistique qui r\u00e9unit Arman, Yves Klein, Niki de Saint Phalle, Raymond Hains et bien d\u2019autres. Accumulations d\u2019objets usuels, empreintes, performances in situ… “Nous prenons le monde tel qu’il est”, disait Pierre Restany.<\/p>\n

Panorama des filiations<\/h3>\n

L\u2019exposition “Tous L\u00e9ger” fait dialoguer pr\u00e8s d’une centaine d’\u0153uvres. La sc\u00e9nographie, confi\u00e9e au duo d’architectes et designers Adrien Gard\u00e8re et Pauline Marchetti. Les aplats de couleur et les perc\u00e9es en tension magnifient les correspondances plastiques. “Keith Haring s\u2019inscrit \u00e0 son tour dans cette lign\u00e9e”, explique Anne Dopffer, commissaire g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l’exposition. “Mes dessins ne tentent pas d’imiter la vie, ils cr\u00e9ent la vie, ils l’inventent” explique Keith Haring. Dans les ann\u00e9es 1980, les formes dynamiques de l’Am\u00e9ricain, ses personnages bondissant et ses couleurs satur\u00e9es r\u00e9sonnent avec la peinture de L\u00e9ger. “L’art est pour tout le monde. C’est la seule chose que nous ayons en commun”, affirmait Haring qui, dans son atelier new-yorkais, avait accroch\u00e9 un dessin… de L\u00e9ger !<\/p>\n

L’hommage de Ben \u00e0 Fernand L\u00e9ger<\/h3>\n

Figure incontournable du mouvement Fluxus, Ben a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un art de geste. Il a consign\u00e9 ses id\u00e9es et opinions dans des \u00e9critures \u00e0 la calligraphie caract\u00e9ristique. Cette bo\u00eete transparente en plexiglas dat\u00e9e de 1985 est intitul\u00e9e Si l\u2019art est partout, il est aussi dans cette bo\u00eete. <\/em>L’oeuvre illustre parfaitement le concept de “tout est art” cher aux Nouveaux R\u00e9alistes. L’objet illustre ainsi les mots de L\u00e9ger pour qui la typographie joue un r\u00f4le plastique important. “Il n\u2019y a pas le beau, catalogu\u00e9, hi\u00e9rarchis\u00e9, disait-il. Le Beau est partout, dans l\u2019ordre d\u2019une batterie de casseroles sur le mur blanc d\u2019une cuisine, aussi bien que dans un mus\u00e9e.”<\/p>\n
