R\u00e9alis\u00e9e en 2025, cette acquisition marque une \u00e9tape symbolique dans l\u2019histoire de cette institution abrit\u00e9e au c\u0153ur de l\u2019abbaye royale.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sculpter le vivant<\/h3>\n

Germaine Richier est la premi\u00e8re artiste femme \u00e0 exposer au pavillon fran\u00e7ais de la Biennale de Venise en 1954. \u00c0 la sortie de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l\u2019artiste entame une p\u00e9riode d\u2019intense cr\u00e9ation. Elle con\u00e7oit ses premiers hybrides (Le Crapaud, La Sauterelle, L\u2019Homme-for\u00eat) et explore les limites entre l\u2019humain, l\u2019animal et le v\u00e9g\u00e9tal. “L\u2019Araign\u00e9e I”, r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en 1946, marque une rupture technique. Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, Germaine Richier int\u00e8gre des fils de fer \u00e0 la sculpture. Ces fils tendus entre les membres de l\u2019arachnide structurent la figure. Ils captent l\u2019espace, le recomposent. Le po\u00e8te Georges Limbour, proche de l\u2019artiste, y voyait un \u00ab triangle \u00bb tendu entre les extr\u00e9mit\u00e9s du corps.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Araign\u00e9e I<\/em><\/h3>\n

Germaine Richier figurait d\u00e9j\u00e0 parmi les artistes collectionn\u00e9s par Marthe et L\u00e9on Sligman. Ce couple de m\u00e9c\u00e8nes \u00e9clair\u00e9s, grands amateurs d\u2019art moderne, a l\u00e9gu\u00e9 au mus\u00e9e de Fontevraud un fonds remarquable, ainsi qu\u2019un million d\u2019euros destin\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019enrichir. C\u2019est dans cet esprit de continuit\u00e9 que le mus\u00e9e a pu faire l\u2019acquisition de cette sculpture rare.
\nEn int\u00e9grant “L\u2019Araign\u00e9e I”, Fontevraud affirme la place des femmes dans l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art du XXe si\u00e8cle et renforce un axe fort de sa collection : celui de la tension entre formes classiques et exp\u00e9rimentations modernes.
