L\u2019artiste, qui aurait eu 90 ans en octobre, transforme ici trois pickups Chevrolet des ann\u00e9es 1950 en sculptures monumentales. Plus qu\u2019une exposition, <em data-start=\"824\" data-end=\"849\">The Singular Experience<\/em> appara\u00eet comme une travers\u00e9e : un voyage o\u00f9 l\u2019on change de vitesse, o\u00f9 l\u2019on prend conscience du temps, du rythme et de l\u2019espace.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em data-start=\"877\" data-end=\"892\">Truck Trilogy<\/em> s\u2019inscrit dans l\u2019histoire tardive de De Maria : con\u00e7ue en 2011 et mise en \u0153uvre post mortem en 2017 selon ses indications, elle se compose de trois Chevrolet Advance Design 3100, classiques des ann\u00e9es 1950, nettoy\u00e9s de tout \u00e9l\u00e9ment superflu et \u00e9quip\u00e9s de tiges d\u2019acier inoxydable plant\u00e9es verticalement dans leurs plateaux en ch\u00eane massif. Chaque v\u00e9hicule supporte une configuration diff\u00e9rente \u2014 triangle, carr\u00e9, cercle \u2014 transformant l\u2019outil de transport en monument abstrait. La voiture \u2014 instrument de d\u00e9placement, machine \u00e0 \u00e9nergie \u2014 devient chez De Maria un v\u00e9hicule mental. Priv\u00e9 de roues, de carburant, de transmission, le pickup se dresse comme une ch\u00e2ssis pur, un squelette esth\u00e9tique. Il ne circule plus. Il invite \u00e0 conduire nos pens\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Percussionniste de formation, Walter De Maria a toujours tiss\u00e9 des liens forts entre musique et sculpture. Il fut membre des Druds, \u00e0 New York, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s d\u2019Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, La Monte Young, et joua de la batterie dans les Primitives (future Velvet Underground). Dans <em data-start=\"3533\" data-end=\"3548\">Truck Trilogy<\/em>, chaque pickup incarne un battement. Trois temps. Trois formes g\u00e9om\u00e9triques comme trois notes centrales d\u2019une partition silencieuse.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019exposition ne se limite pas \u00e0 <em data-start=\"3888\" data-end=\"3903\">Truck Trilogy<\/em>. La curatrice Donna De Salvo propose une s\u00e9lection de sculptures, dessins, films et documents d\u2019archives rarement vus \u2014 <em data-start=\"4011\" data-end=\"4046\">10 through 17-Sided Open Polygons<\/em> (1984) en s\u00e9quence, <em data-start=\"4067\" data-end=\"4092\">Invisible Flying Saucer<\/em> (1974) en dessin, <em data-start=\"4111\" data-end=\"4122\">Hard Core<\/em> (1969), <em data-start=\"4131\" data-end=\"4174\">Three Circles and Two Lines in the Desert<\/em> (1969).
