C\u2019est dans ce cadre, \u00e0 la fois patrimonial et intellectuel, que s\u2019ouvre l\u2019exposition <em data-start=\"1048\" data-end=\"1065\">Correspondances<\/em> d\u2019Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer, du 2 octobre 2025 au 8 f\u00e9vrier 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>La place de la femme<\/h3>\n<p>Artiste franco-suisse, Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer a fait de la peinture un terrain de r\u00e9flexion sur le langage, l\u2019identit\u00e9 et la visibilit\u00e9 des femmes dans l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art. Son \u0153uvre, travers\u00e9e par des s\u00e9ries comme <em data-start=\"1339\" data-end=\"1366\">Portraits grandeur nature<\/em>, <em data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1378\">Matrices<\/em>, <em data-start=\"1380\" data-end=\"1391\">Pr\u00e9delles<\/em> ou <em data-start=\"1395\" data-end=\"1406\">Tablettes<\/em>, interroge le rapport entre texte et image, figure et abstraction. Avec ses <em data-start=\"1728\" data-end=\"1745\">Correspondances <\/em>au mus\u00e9e Cognac-Jay<em data-start=\"1728\" data-end=\"1745\">,<\/em> Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer s\u2019attaque \u00e0 un d\u00e9fi de taille. Mettre son univers conceptuel et pictural en dialogue avec l\u2019art du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle. Mais loin d\u2019un face-\u00e0-face fig\u00e9, elle propose un \u00e9change vivant, une v\u00e9ritable \u00ab correspondance \u00bb o\u00f9 les \u0153uvres s\u2019\u00e9clairent mutuellement. Le choix n\u2019est pas anodin. Le XVIIIe fut \u00e0 la fois le si\u00e8cle des Lumi\u00e8res et un \u00e2ge ambigu pour les femmes artistes et savantes. C\u2019est cette tension entre ouverture et persistance de l\u2019exclusion qu&#8217;Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer choisit de questionner.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2335\" data-end=\"2840\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5336 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Agnes-Thurnauer_Emmanuelle-Kant.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Agnes-Thurnauer_Emmanuelle-Kant.png 594w, https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Agnes-Thurnauer_Emmanuelle-Kant-300x292.png 300w, https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Agnes-Thurnauer_Emmanuelle-Kant-432x420.png 432w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/strong>Des badges \u00e9vocateurs<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2335\" data-end=\"2840\">D\u00e8s l&#8217;entr\u00e9e, le visiteur est frapp\u00e9 par une s\u00e9rie de portraits monumentaux qui ne repr\u00e9sentent personne et pourtant disent tout : les <em data-start=\"2479\" data-end=\"2506\">Portraits grandeur nature<\/em> de Thurnauer. Deux \u0153uvres reprennent le principe du badge nominatif \u2013 cet objet utilitaire, qui dit l\u2019identit\u00e9 \u2013 mais le transposent \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle du tableau d\u2019apparat. On peut y lire : \u00ab Fran\u00e7oise Boucher \u00bb, et \u00ab Emmanuelle Kant \u00bb. Que se serait-il pass\u00e9 si le favori de Madame de Pompadour, Fran\u00e7ois Boucher, avait \u00e9t\u00e9 une Fran\u00e7oise ? Si Emmanuel Kant, auteur de la <em data-start=\"3140\" data-end=\"3168\">Critique de la raison pure<\/em>, avait \u00e9t\u00e9 une philosophe prussienne r\u00e9pondant au nom d\u2019Emmanuelle ? L\u2019effet est saisissant, \u00e0 la fois dr\u00f4le et d\u00e9rangeant. Le badge, devenu peinture monumentale, se charge d&#8217;une puissance critique.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"3818\" data-end=\"4079\">Now<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3818\" data-end=\"4079\">La salle suivante d\u00e9ploie un autre axe du travail d&#8217;Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer : la peinture comme exp\u00e9rience du temps. En contrepoint des vues v\u00e9nitiennes de Canaletto, l\u2019artiste pr\u00e9sente une toile o\u00f9 s\u2019\u00e9tend un ciel dens\u00e9ment nuageux. Il est travers\u00e9 par le mot \u00ab Now \u00bb. L\u00e0 o\u00f9 Canaletto fixait dans une pr\u00e9cision quasi photographique les paysages de sa ville, Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer pr\u00e9f\u00e8re l\u2019instabilit\u00e9 des atmosph\u00e8res, la m\u00e9moire flottante des nuages. Le mot \u00ab Now \u00bb agit comme une injonction : l\u2019art n\u2019est pas seulement m\u00e9moire, il est d\u2019abord exp\u00e9rience imm\u00e9diate. En regardant ces deux toiles, on mesure \u00e0 quel point le XVIIIe si\u00e8cle, souvent per\u00e7u comme un \u00e2ge d\u2019or fig\u00e9, peut \u00eatre r\u00e9activ\u00e9 dans le pr\u00e9sent. Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer se repr\u00e9sente nue, de dos. Mais loin de <em>L\u2019Odalisque <\/em>lascive peinte par Fran\u00e7ois Boucher en 1743, il s\u2019agit ici d\u2019un corps assum\u00e9, offert sans fard au regard. L\u2019artiste inverse les codes de la peinture \u00e9rotique. Elle ne propose pas son corps comme objet de d\u00e9sir, mais comme sujet de r\u00e9flexion. Le titre en fran\u00e7ais, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.fr\/actualites\/article\/culottee-agnes-thurnauer-defie-la-peinture-et-son-genre_35699.html\"><em data-start=\"5182\" data-end=\"5194\">Somnambule<\/em><\/a>, ajoute une note de fragilit\u00e9. Comme si la pr\u00e9sence \u00e0 soi-m\u00eame se faisait \u00e0 la limite de la conscience. Cette salle pr\u00e9sente \u00e9galement au sol les <em data-start=\"5337\" data-end=\"5347\">Matrices<\/em>, sculptures de lettres en pl\u00e2tre. Priv\u00e9es de leur fonction linguistique imm\u00e9diate, ces formes alphab\u00e9tiques apparaissent comme des architectures vides. C\u2019est tout le projet d&#8217;Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer : rappeler que le langage est matrice, et que c\u2019est dans cet espace ouvert que peut se loger la pens\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"5824\" data-end=\"6229\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5338 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/fragonard-Perette-et-le-pot-au-lait-1770.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/fragonard-Perette-et-le-pot-au-lait-1770.png 812w, https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/fragonard-Perette-et-le-pot-au-lait-1770-300x239.png 300w, https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/fragonard-Perette-et-le-pot-au-lait-1770-768x611.png 768w, https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/fragonard-Perette-et-le-pot-au-lait-1770-528x420.png 528w, https:\/\/great-artmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/fragonard-Perette-et-le-pot-au-lait-1770-696x554.png 696w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 255px) 100vw, 255px\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 data-start=\"5824\" data-end=\"6229\">R\u00e9ponse \u00e0 Fragonard<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"5824\" data-end=\"6229\">La quatri\u00e8me salle met en dialogue <em data-start=\"5859\" data-end=\"5887\">Perrette et le pot au lait<\/em> (1770) de Fragonard avec la s\u00e9rie <em data-start=\"5915\" data-end=\"5933\">Into Abstraction<\/em> de Thurnauer (le triptyque en photo d&#8217;ouverture). L\u00e0 encore, le parall\u00e8le est audacieux. Chez Fragonard, la laiti\u00e8re sens dessus dessous incarne l\u2019arch\u00e9type de la chute f\u00e9minine. C&#8217;est le faux pas \u00e9rotis\u00e9. Chez Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer, le corps en mouvement est transcrit en dessins. Ce qui \u00e9tait dans la peinture du XVIIIe une m\u00e9taphore morale et \u00e9rotique devient, au XXIe, une c\u00e9l\u00e9bration du mouvement. On y retrouve Gabrielle \u00c9milie Le Tonnelier de Breteuil, marquise du Ch\u00e2telet, math\u00e9maticienne et physicienne de renom, traductrice de Newton, compagne de Voltaire et v\u00e9ritable pionni\u00e8re de la pens\u00e9e scientifique. Issu d\u2019une collection priv\u00e9e, son portrait est celui d&#8217;une femme \u00e0 sa table de travail peint par Maurice Quentin de La Tour. Une intellectuelle hors du commun \u00e0 \u00e9couter l&#8217;\u00e9mission qui lui est consacr\u00e9e sur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiofrance.fr\/franceculture\/podcasts\/le-cours-de-l-histoire\/emilie-du-chatelet-la-science-a-la-vitesse-des-lumieres-2270440\">France Culture<\/a>. Face \u00e0 ce portrait d&#8217;Emilie du Ch\u00e2telet, les \u0153uvres d&#8217;Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer r\u00e9sonnent comme des hommages : les <em data-start=\"7121\" data-end=\"7132\">Pr\u00e9delles<\/em>, ces diptyques jouent alors sur le double sens de \u00ab pr\u00e8s d\u2019elles \u00bb. Le jeu linguistique devient manifeste plastique. D\u2019un c\u00f4t\u00e9, le portrait d\u2019\u00c9milie du Ch\u00e2telet; de l\u2019autre &#8211; un \u00e9tage plus bas &#8211; le badge monumental \u00ab Emmanuelle Kant \u00bb. La premi\u00e8re t\u00e9moigne de ce qui a \u00e9t\u00e9, la seconde de ce qui aurait pu \u00eatre. Ensemble, elles ouvrent un espace de r\u00e9flexion sur la place des femmes dans la g\u00e9n\u00e9alogie intellectuelle et artistique.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"7629\" data-end=\"7967\">Texte-image<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"7629\" data-end=\"7967\">\u00c0 travers ce parcours \u00e0 la sc\u00e9nographie soign\u00e9e, on mesure combien l\u2019\u0153uvre d&#8217;Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer est profond\u00e9ment habit\u00e9e par une m\u00eame question : comment le langage structure-t-il notre rapport au monde ? Depuis ses premi\u00e8res f\u00e9minisations de noms d\u2019artistes \u2013 Marcelle Duchamp, Francine Picabia \u2013 jusqu\u2019aux <em data-start=\"9325\" data-end=\"9335\">Matrices<\/em> ou aux <em data-start=\"9343\" data-end=\"9354\">Pr\u00e9delles<\/em>, l&#8217;artiste n\u2019a cess\u00e9 d\u2019explorer les zones o\u00f9 le langage devient image. L\u2019exposition <em data-start=\"9822\" data-end=\"9839\">Correspondances<\/em> au mus\u00e9e Cognacq-Jay est une v\u00e9ritable r\u00e9\u00e9criture des Lumi\u00e8res. En confrontant Boucher, Fragonard, Canaletto, Agn\u00e8s Thurnauer nous rappelle que l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art est un r\u00e9cit sans cesse \u00e0 r\u00e9\u00e9valuer. Elle nous montre que les femmes artistes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sentes, mais marginalis\u00e9es. Leur red\u00e9couverte actuelle change notre compr\u00e9hension du pass\u00e9.
