D\u00e8s l\u2019enfance, Cyrano de Bergerac s\u2019impose comme une pr\u00e9sence fondatrice, avant que le collectionneur ne remonte le fil vers le vrai Savinien Cyrano avant d\u2019approfondir sa connaissance de celui qui fait le pont entre les deux, \u00e0 savoir Edmond Rostand lui-m\u00eame, figure centrale d\u2019un pan entier du patrimoine litt\u00e9raire et symbolique fran\u00e7ais.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Cette passion pour Cyrano de Bergerac s\u2019est progressivement mu\u00e9e en action culturelle. R\u00e9habiliter une tombe \u00e0 Marseille, restaurer un buste \u00e0 Luchon, inaugurer une sculpture Place du G\u00e9n\u00e9ral-Catroux dans le 17e arrondissement \u00e0 Paris<\/a>, cr\u00e9er un festival, organiser expositions et conf\u00e9rences : Thomas Sertillanges inscrit sa collection dans l\u2019espace public. Il rappelle le r\u00f4le majeur d’Edmond Rostand (1868-1918) pendant la Grande Guerre, \u00ab le po\u00e8te national \u00bb, dont les textes soutiennent le moral des Poilus. La collection de Thomas Sertillanges devient alors un outil de transmission, prolong\u00e9 par la r\u00e9daction d\u2019une biographie et la volont\u00e9 affirm\u00e9e de partager ce patrimoine au plus grand nombre.<\/p>\n

Cyrano, figure du panache et de la dissidence, traverse les si\u00e8cles sans se figer. Pour Thomas Sertillanges, sa modernit\u00e9 tient \u00e0 son universalit\u00e9 : \u00ab Cyrano est un perdant magnifique \u00bb, porteur de valeurs intemporelles : ind\u00e9pendance d\u2019esprit, libert\u00e9 de ton, fid\u00e9lit\u00e9 en amiti\u00e9, amour de l\u2019autre plus fort que soi. La tirade des \u00ab Non merci \u00bb agit toujours comme un r\u00e9v\u00e9lateur. On s\u2019y risque.<\/p>\n

\"\"Lorsqu\u2019il s\u2019agit de choisir une pi\u00e8ce embl\u00e9matique, le collectionneur esquive avec humour : \u00ab Mon sang se coagule \/ En pensant qu\u2019on y peut changer une virgule\u2026 \u00bb. Il cite pourtant deux \u0153uvres : une statue de Cyrano de 1899 sign\u00e9e Maniroff, dans le costume du premier acte, et l\u2019affiche du 27 d\u00e9cembre 1897 du Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de la Porte Saint-Martin, utilis\u00e9e un seul jour, celui de la r\u00e9p\u00e9tition g\u00e9n\u00e9rale. Deux objets rares, \u00e0 la fois documents et symboles, qui condensent la naissance d\u2019un mythe.<\/p>\n

Aujourd\u2019hui, Thomas Sertillanges cherche un lieu capable d\u2019accueillir durablement cette collection, pens\u00e9e comme un ensemble vivant. \u00c0 d\u00e9faut d\u2019ancrage permanent, il se dit ouvert \u00e0 des expositions itin\u00e9rantes, en France comme \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger, pour faire circuler l\u2019\u0153uvre et l\u2019esprit d’Edmond Rostand. L\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019un festival litt\u00e9raire d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 Edmond Rostand s\u2019impose aussi naturellement : un espace de textes, de voix et de sc\u00e8nes, fid\u00e8le \u00e0 Cyrano, o\u00f9 le panache continuerait de se transmettre, hors vitrines et hors poussi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n
