On imaginait une arm\u00e9e d\u2019ombres, un collectif sans visage, ou peut-\u00eatre un fant\u00f4me n\u00e9 \u00e0 Bristol. Mais en mars 2026, une enqu\u00eate de l\u2019agence Reuters affirme avoir lev\u00e9 le voile sur l\u2019identit\u00e9 de Banksy. L\u2019artiste serait Robin Gunningham, un graffeur britannique originaire de la r\u00e9gion de Bristol.<\/h3>\n

Pendant des d\u00e9cennies, la signature au pochoir est apparue sur les murs des capitales occidentales, sur le mur de s\u00e9paration en Cisjordanie, ou au c\u0153ur des maisons de vente. Les images de Banksy dont la Fillette au ballon<\/em>, le Lanceur de fleurs<\/em>, ou encore les rats insurg\u00e9s ont transform\u00e9 le street art en ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne mondial.<\/strong><\/p>\n

L\u2019enqu\u00eate de Reuters revient sur un dossier de 2000<\/h3>\n

En mai 2000, un jeune graffeur britannique est interpell\u00e9 dans le quartier du Meatpacking District \u00e0 New York City apr\u00e8s avoir modifi\u00e9 un panneau publicitaire de la marque Marc Jacobs. Le proc\u00e8s-verbal de la police mentionne un nom : Robin Gunningham. Le document comporte \u00e9galement une d\u00e9claration manuscrite d\u00e9crivant une d\u00e9marche artistique proche de celle qui fera la r\u00e9putation de Banksy. Ce dossier judiciaire constitue l\u2019un des \u00e9l\u00e9ments centraux de l\u2019enqu\u00eate publi\u00e9e en 2026. Il recoupe ensuite de nombreux indices biographiques reliant le jeune graffeur de Bristol \u00e0 l\u2019ic\u00f4ne mondiale du street art.<\/p>\n

\u00ab L\u2019anonymat \u00e9tait son \u0153uvre la plus complexe. Aujourd\u2019hui, le cadre est bris\u00e9 \u00bb (\u00e9ditorial de Reuters, mars 2026)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Le second volet de l\u2019investigation se situe dans un contexte radicalement diff\u00e9rent : la guerre en Ukraine. En 2022, plusieurs fresques apparaissent dans des villes d\u00e9truites par les bombardements, notamment \u00e0 Borodianka. Parmi elles, une gymnaste en \u00e9quilibre sur des d\u00e9combres. Trois d\u00e9cennies d\u2019actions artistiques qui ont construit la l\u00e9gende<\/h3>\n

Depuis les premiers pochoirs r\u00e9alis\u00e9s \u00e0 Bristol \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 1990, Banksy a multipli\u00e9 les interventions inattendues : les fresques politiques sur le mur isra\u00e9lo-palestinien en 2005, une r\u00e9sidence clandestine \u00e0 New York en 2013 avec une \u0153uvre par jour dans la ville, l\u2019ouverture du parc satirique Dismaland en 2015, puis l\u2019h\u00f4tel-installation The Walled Off Hotel \u00e0 Bethl\u00e9em.
