\u00c0 Saint-Paul-de-Vence, la Fondation CAB consacre une exposition \u00e0 Jean Prouv\u00e9 (1901-1984), figure centrale du design et de l\u2019architecture du XXe si\u00e8cle. Intitul\u00e9e Jean Prouv\u00e9 : Inventeur de maisons<\/em>, cette pr\u00e9sentation orchestr\u00e9e par la Galerie Downtown Laffanour explore une \u0153uvre o\u00f9 la fronti\u00e8re entre mobilier et architecture dispara\u00eet au profit d\u2019une pens\u00e9e constructive profond\u00e9ment actuelle. Jusqu’au 31 octobre 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dans l\u2019\u00e9crin moderniste de la Fondation CAB, restaur\u00e9 par Charles Zana, le parcours met en sc\u00e8ne une s\u00e9lection d\u2019\u0153uvres embl\u00e9matiques qui t\u00e9moignent de la coh\u00e9rence radicale de la d\u00e9marche de Jean Prouv\u00e9. Cette continuit\u00e9 entre \u00e9chelle domestique et architecture constitue le fil rouge de l\u2019exposition, o\u00f9 portes, brise-soleil et pi\u00e8ces de mobilier dialoguent sans hi\u00e9rarchie.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Chaque \u00e9l\u00e9ment, du meuble au b\u00e2timent, ob\u00e9it \u00e0 une m\u00eame approche po\u00e9tique \u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Au c\u0153ur du projet, les maisons de Meudon incarnent l\u2019ambition sociale de Jean Prouv\u00e9 face \u00e0 la crise du logement d\u2019apr\u00e8s-guerre. Ses recherches sur les structures pr\u00e9fabriqu\u00e9es : portiques axiaux, panneaux autoportants, ou coques m\u00e9talliques, traduisent une volont\u00e9 d\u2019industrialiser la construction sans renoncer \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9gance formelle. Transformer les contraintes techniques en formes po\u00e9tiques \u00bb r\u00e9sume l\u2019esprit de ces exp\u00e9rimentations, qui demeurent aujourd\u2019hui un mod\u00e8le pour l\u2019architecture contemporaine.<\/p>\n

\"\"Le mobilier pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 prolonge cette r\u00e9flexion avec une clart\u00e9 presque manifeste. Le lit Cit\u00e9, la table Compas ou encore la chaise Standard illustrent un principe constant : la forme d\u00e9coule de la fonction. Le designer privil\u00e9gie l\u2019\u00e9conomie de moyens, la lisibilit\u00e9 structurelle et la robustesse des mat\u00e9riaux. \u00ab Une approche o\u00f9 la fonction d\u00e9termine la forme \u00bb, insiste le texte de l\u2019exposition . Cette exigence constructive conf\u00e8re \u00e0 ces objets une intemporalit\u00e9 qui d\u00e9passe leur contexte d\u2019origine.<\/p>\n

\"\"Dans cet ensemble, le fauteuil Antony occupe une place singuli\u00e8re, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant un versant plus sensuel du travail de Prouv\u00e9. Sa coque en contreplaqu\u00e9 moul\u00e9, pos\u00e9e sur une base m\u00e9tallique, traduit une recherche d\u2019\u00e9quilibre entre ergonomie, l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 et expressivit\u00e9 formelle. Il incarne une tension f\u00e9conde entre industrialisation et confort, entre rigueur structurelle et attention port\u00e9e au corps. \u00c0 travers cette pi\u00e8ce, Prouv\u00e9 d\u00e9montre que le design peut \u00eatre \u00e0 la fois technique et profond\u00e9ment humain.<\/p>\n

Plus de 60 ans apr\u00e8s leur cr\u00e9ation, ces \u0153uvres conservent une puissance d\u2019\u00e9vocation intacte. Elles rappellent que le design peut r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 des enjeux sociaux tout en produisant des formes durables et d\u00e9sirables. \u00ab Unir ing\u00e9niosit\u00e9 constructive, vision sociale et \u00e9l\u00e9gance formelle \u00bb, telle est sans doute la contribution majeure de Jean Prouv\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019histoire du design . Une le\u00e7on que cette exposition rend tangible, dans un dialogue f\u00e9cond entre pass\u00e9 et pr\u00e9sent.<\/p>\n
