Apr\u00e8s un passage remarqu\u00e9 aux Golden Globes, o\u00f9 il s\u2019est impos\u00e9 comme l\u2019un des grands favoris de la saison, le film Hamnet <\/em>de Chlo\u00e9 Zhao confirme son ascension en d\u00e9crochant plusieurs nominations aux Oscars en mars 2026. L’Irlandaise Jessie Buckley a remport\u00e9 le prix de la meilleure actrice. Un film sensible, entre fiction et r\u00e9alit\u00e9 historique.<\/strong><\/p>\n

De la mort d\u2019Hamnet \u00e0 la naissance de la pi\u00e8ce Hamlet<\/em> en 1603, Chlo\u00e9 Zhao am\u00e8ne la tragique histoire du fils de William Shakespeare au grand \u00e9cran. La pi\u00e8ce et son c\u00e9l\u00e8bre monologue sur le \u00ab \u00eatre ou ne pas \u00eatre \u00bb sont bien souvent connus de tous, mais l\u2019histoire qui a inspir\u00e9 le dramaturge anglais est ignor\u00e9e par le plus grand nombre. Le film de Chlo\u00e9 Zhao met en lumi\u00e8re la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 historique du deuil de William Shakespeare apr\u00e8s la mort de son fils, Hamnet Shakespeare. L\u2019histoire avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 cont\u00e9e en 2020 par la romanci\u00e8re irlandaise Maggie O\u2019Farrell dans son livre Hamnet<\/em>, dont le film de Chlo\u00e9 Zhao est inspir\u00e9. Avec une lettre de diff\u00e9rence, il est impossible d\u2019ignorer la similitude entre Hamnet et Hamlet. D’autant plus que la mort de l\u2019un a engendr\u00e9 la naissance de l\u2019autre.<\/p>\n

Qui est la femme rest\u00e9e dans l\u2019ombre du dramaturge et qui a port\u00e9 la douleur de la perte d\u2019un enfant pendant que William Shakespeare se trouvait \u00e0 Londres ? Anne Hathaway (1556-1623), renomm\u00e9e Agn\u00e8s Shakespeare dans le film, et remarquablement incarn\u00e9e par Jessie Buckley. Les larmes et les cris de d\u00e9sespoir de la m\u00e8re d\u2019Hamnet viennent saisir le spectateur. Une prestation \u00e9mouvante qui lui a valu d’\u00eatre r\u00e9compens\u00e9e aux Oscars en tant que meilleure actrice. A 36 ans, la com\u00e9dienne, \u00e9galement chanteuse accomplie, a domin\u00e9 la saison des prix, remportant un Golden Globe, un Critics’ Choice Award et un Bafta de la meilleure actrice.<\/p>\n

Nappes de cordes \u00e9tir\u00e9es, motifs lancinants, silences habit\u00e9s\u2026 La musique de Hamnet<\/em> doit beaucoup \u00e0 Max Richter, compositeur germano-britannique incontournable de la sc\u00e8ne n\u00e9oclassique contemporaine. Form\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00c9dimbourg puis aupr\u00e8s de Luciano Berio, il s\u2019est impos\u00e9 avec des \u0153uvres m\u00ealant \u00e9criture classique, textures \u00e9lectroniques et minimalisme r\u00e9p\u00e9titif, \u00e0 l\u2019image de ses partitions pour le cin\u00e9ma (Ad Astra, Arrival) ou de son projet embl\u00e9matique Sleep<\/em>. Dans Hamnet<\/em>, Max Richter d\u00e9ploie une composition d\u2019une intensit\u00e9 rare. Sa musique \u00e9pouse les respirations les plus intimes. Elle traduit la douleur sourde du deuil, l\u2019\u00e9rosion du temps, et conf\u00e8re au r\u00e9cit une profondeur \u00e9motionnelle presque physique.<\/p>\n

Les d\u00e9cors et la lumi\u00e8re de Hamnet<\/em> participent pleinement \u00e0 sa puissance esth\u00e9tique. Souvent plong\u00e9es dans une p\u00e9nombre dense, les sc\u00e8nes retrouvent la mat\u00e9rialit\u00e9 du XVIe si\u00e8cle, \u00e0 une \u00e9poque o\u00f9 la seule source d\u2019\u00e9clairage restait la flamme vacillante des bougies. Cette lumi\u00e8re instable, presque organique, sculpte les visages et creuse les ombres, donnant \u00e0 chaque plan une profondeur picturale proche des ma\u00eetres flamands. Loin de toute reconstitution lisse, la cam\u00e9ra privil\u00e9gie les d\u00e9tails : mains rugueuses, ongles noircis, peaux marqu\u00e9es par le froid et le labeur. Elle s\u2019attarde sur les gestes du quotidien, sur la texture des \u00e9toffes, sur la terre incrust\u00e9e dans les plis de la vie ordinaire. Ce parti pris visuel renforce une impression de v\u00e9rit\u00e9 presque tactile et inscrit le film dans une forme de r\u00e9alisme sensible, o\u00f9 la beaut\u00e9 na\u00eet pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment de la rudesse du monde repr\u00e9sent\u00e9.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
