Cette artiste peintre autodidacte a marqu\u00e9 l’histoire de l’art na\u00eff par ses \u0153uvres florales mystiques et son parcours de vie bouleversant. Entre g\u00e9nie cr\u00e9atif et solitude.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wilhelm Uhde : la rencontre qui change tout<\/h3>\n

En 1912, S\u00e9raphine Louis travaille comme femme de m\u00e9nage \u00e0 Senlis (Oise). Elle nettoie la maison de Wilhelm Uhde (1874-1947). Ce marchand d’art allemand est un visionnaire. Il a d\u00e9j\u00e0 d\u00e9couvert le Douanier Rousseau<\/a>, il fr\u00e9quente Pablo Picasso, travaille avec son confr\u00e8re, Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler. Par hasard, il aper\u00e7oit une petite toile peinte par S\u00e9raphine. La force des couleurs le frappe imm\u00e9diatement. Uhde d\u00e9cide alors de soutenir cette femme humble. Il devient son m\u00e9c\u00e8ne et l’encourage \u00e0 peindre sur de grands formats. Cette rencontre historique permet \u00e0 S\u00e9raphine de sortir de l’ombre et d’entrer dans la post\u00e9rit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

\"\"Une \u0153uvre mystique n\u00e9e de la solitude<\/h3>\n

S\u00e9raphine de Senlis puise son inspiration dans sa foi profonde. Et possiblement des vitraux de la cath\u00e9drale de Senlis qui semble s’animer sous ses pri\u00e8res. Elle peint avant tout des bouquets de fleurs. Ses motifs sont denses, vibrants. L’artiste utilise des mat\u00e9riaux simples comme le Ripolin ou des pigments naturels. Pour elle, la peinture est une mission divine. Elle travaille la nuit, seule, dans le silence de son petit appartement situ\u00e9 au num\u00e9ro 1 de la rue Puits-Tiphaine. Ses toiles expriment une ferveur religieuse intense. Chaque feuille et chaque p\u00e9tale semblent habit\u00e9s par une \u00e9nergie spirituelle unique.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/h3>\n

De la reconnaissance \u00e0 l’asile psychiatrique<\/h3>\n

Le succ\u00e8s arrive enfin gr\u00e2ce aux expositions organis\u00e9es par Wilhelm Uhde. Cependant, la crise de 1929 brise cet \u00e9lan. S\u00e9raphine sombre progressivement dans la folie. Elle souffre de d\u00e9lires de pers\u00e9cution. En 1932, elle est intern\u00e9e \u00e0 l’h\u00f4pital psychiatrique de Clermont-de-l’Oise. Elle cesse alors d\u00e9finitivement de peindre. Le film \u00e9ponyme avec Yolande Moreau illustre magnifiquement cette d\u00e9ch\u00e9ance. On y voit la fragilit\u00e9 d’une femme broy\u00e9e par son g\u00e9nie. S\u00e9raphine meurt dans la solitude en 1942.<\/p>\n

Le Mus\u00e9e de Senlis : un \u00e9crin pour son art<\/h3>\n

Aujourd’hui, le Mus\u00e9e d’Art et d’Arch\u00e9ologie de Senlis<\/a> rend hommage \u00e0 l’artiste. Il pr\u00e9sente une dizaine d’\u0153uvres de S\u00e9raphine en permanence. Les visiteurs peuvent y admirer la puissance de ses compositions florales. Le mus\u00e9e expose \u00e9galement deux toiles de Helmut Kolle (dit Helmut Kh\u00f4l). Cet artiste \u00e9tait l’amant et le prot\u00e9g\u00e9 de Wilhelm Uhde. Le film de Martin Provost (2008) met d’ailleurs en lumi\u00e8re cette relation complexe. Cette collection permanente offre un t\u00e9moignage pr\u00e9cieux sur ce cercle artistique singulier et passionn\u00e9.<\/p>\n
