L’artiste catalan Jaume Plensa investit cette \u00e9glise du XIXe si\u00e8cle avec un ensemble de sculptures. Cette exposition invite les visiteurs \u00e0 une observation attentive \u00e0 travers les jeux de lumi\u00e8re, le vide et la transparence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Une invitation \u00e0 la contemplation au Carr\u00e9 Sainte-Anne<\/h3>\n

Accompagn\u00e9 par le commissaire Numa Hambursin, directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral du MO.CO., le sculpteur d\u00e9ploie au Carr\u00e9 Sainte-Anne sa vision : \u00ab Le mot mirage renvoie \u00e0 l’imaginaire. Cette exposition a besoin d’une \u00e2me pour \u00e9couter les vibrations de nos id\u00e9es \u00bb, confie t-il. L’artiste refuse le bruit et la provocation : \u00ab Je crois, au contraire, qu’il est n\u00e9cessaire de parler plus profond\u00e9ment, au lieu de parler plus fort \u00bb. Au centre du b\u00e2timent, l’\u0153uvre Les Invisibles<\/em> pr\u00e9sente deux visages en maille m\u00e9tallique suspendus les yeux ferm\u00e9s. Un doigt pos\u00e9 sur la bouche invite chaque visiteur \u00e0 s’arr\u00eater, illustrant la pens\u00e9e de l’artiste : \u00ab l’art a la capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 restaurer le silence \u00bb. Leurs ombres se d\u00e9placent sur le sol et rencontrent les couleurs projet\u00e9es par les vitraux, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de deux sculptures en alb\u00e2tre et de trois structures en bois de Belgique faites de poutres associ\u00e9es aux d\u00e9cors muraux.<\/p>\n

Jaume Plensa, un sculpteur de l’espace public<\/h3>\n

N\u00e9 \u00e0 Barcelone en 1955, Jaume Plensa \u00e9tudie \u00e0 l’\u00c9cole Llotja (\u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure de design et d’art) puis \u00e0 l’\u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure de Bellas Artes de Sant Jordi, deux institutions embl\u00e9matiques de sa ville natale. Sa grande sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 r\u00e9side dans l’installation d’\u0153uvres en plein c\u0153ur des espaces publics. Ses cr\u00e9ations explorent les th\u00e8mes universels du langage, du corps et de la relation \u00e0 l’autre. Il privil\u00e9gie des mat\u00e9riaux comme la maille m\u00e9tallique, l’acier ou le verre afin de mat\u00e9rialiser le vide et de jouer constamment sur la transparence. Jaume Plensa s’est fait conna\u00eetre en 2004 avec la Crown Fountain<\/i> \u00e0 Chicago. L’installation fait dialoguer deux tours en briques de verre de 15 m\u00e8tres de haut avec un immense miroir d’eau en granite noir. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des \u00e9crans LED g\u00e9ants, les structures diffusent des paysages mais surtout les visages de milliers d’habitants de Chicago.<\/p>\n

Une carri\u00e8re jalonn\u00e9e de distinctions prestigieuses<\/h3>\n

Nomm\u00e9 Chevalier des Arts et Lettres en France en 1993, Jaume Plensa re\u00e7oit le Prix National des Beaux-Arts en Espagne en 2012 ainsi que le prestigieux Prix Vel\u00e1zquez en 2013. Ses installations lui valent le Global Fine Art Award \u00e0 Venise en 2015. Plus r\u00e9cemment, sa place de choix sur la sc\u00e8ne artistique est confirm\u00e9e par sa pr\u00e9sence \u00e0 Art Basel Unlimited en juin 2025 et par une grande r\u00e9trospective itin\u00e9rante aux \u00c9tats-Unis de 2025 \u00e0 2026.
