Cette vente record propulse l&#8217;\u0153uvre au rang de deuxi\u00e8me sculpture la plus ch\u00e8re de l&#8217;histoire des ench\u00e8res. Elle bouscule ainsi le monopole d&#8217;Alberto Giacometti sur le march\u00e9 de l&#8217;art de la sculpture moderne.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"5\">Un s\u00e9isme sur le march\u00e9 mondial de l&#8217;art<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">Le march\u00e9 de l&#8217;art vient de vivre un v\u00e9ritable bouleversement. Le 1er juin, \u00e0 New York, la maison Christie&#8217;s a adjug\u00e9 <i data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"122\">La Dana\u00efde<\/i> de Constantin Brancusi pour la somme de 107,6 millions de dollars. L&#8217;acheteur anonyme a remport\u00e9 la mise par t\u00e9l\u00e9phone. Jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, le sculpteur suisse Alberto Giacometti dominait seul le sommet du classement mondial. Ses \u0153uvres occupaient les trois premi\u00e8res places historiques. D\u00e9sormais, Brancusi brise ce monopole. Seul <i data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"209\">L&#8217;homme au doigt<\/i> de Giacometti devance encore la cr\u00e9ation franco-roumaine, avec un record \u00e0 141,3 millions de dollars en 2015. <i data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"336\">La Dana\u00efde<\/i> s&#8217;empare de la deuxi\u00e8me place, rel\u00e9guant <i data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"388\">L&#8217;homme qui marche I<\/i> \u00e0 la troisi\u00e8me position.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"9\">Le contexte de cr\u00e9ation : l&#8217;histoire derri\u00e8re le bronze dor\u00e9<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\">Pour comprendre la fascination autour de cette \u0153uvre, il faut remonter au Paris des ann\u00e9es 1910. \u00c0 cette \u00e9poque, Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957) travaille dans son atelier parisien. C\u2019est l\u00e0 qu\u2019il rencontre une jeune artiste hongroise nomm\u00e9e Margit Pogany. Elle pr\u00eate ses traits \u00e0 <i data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"61\">La Dana\u00efde<\/i>. Brancusi con\u00e7oit alors un visage extr\u00eamement stylis\u00e9. Les yeux de la figure sont form\u00e9s par de grands arcs de cercle parfaits. Le sculpteur roumain d\u00e9cide de recouvrir le visage d&#8217;une d\u00e9licate feuille d&#8217;or, cr\u00e9ant un contraste saisissant avec la patine noire de la chevelure. Selon l&#8217;experte Marielle Tabart, cette esth\u00e9tique s&#8217;inspire directement de l&#8217;art bouddhique extr\u00eame-oriental. Brancusi admirait beaucoup ces \u0153uvres qu&#8217;il avait \u00e9tudi\u00e9 au Mus\u00e9e Guimet \u00e0 Paris.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"18\">Une valeur financi\u00e8re multipli\u00e9e par six en 24 ans<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15\">Entre 1913 et 1918, Brancusi r\u00e9alise plusieurs tirages en bronze. On retrouve des &#8220;s\u0153urs jumelles&#8221;, \u00e0 la fois au Centre Pompidou \u00e0 Paris, \u00e0 la Tate de Londres ou encore au Philadelphia Museum of Art. Selon Christie&#8217;s, il s&#8217;agissait du tout dernier exemplaire dor\u00e9 encore conserv\u00e9 dans des mains priv\u00e9es. L&#8217;histoire de ce tirage, coul\u00e9 en 1913, est li\u00e9e \u00e0 des collectionneurs am\u00e9ricains. En 1914, le banquier Eugene Meyer et son \u00e9pouse Agnes ach\u00e8tent l&#8217;\u0153uvre \u00e0 New York. La famille conserve la sculpture pendant pr\u00e8s d&#8217;un si\u00e8cle. En 2002, le magnat des m\u00e9dias S.I. Newhouse Jr. acquiert la pr\u00e9cieuse sculpture pour 18,2 millions de dollars. \u00c0 l&#8217;\u00e9poque, ce montant \u00e9tablit d\u00e9j\u00e0 un record mondial. En l&#8217;espace de 24 ans, la valeur financi\u00e8re de <i data-path-to-node=\"20\" data-index-in-node=\"213\">La Dana\u00efde<\/i> a \u00e9t\u00e9 multipli\u00e9e par six.
