Conserv\u00e9e au mus\u00e9e de l&#8217;Ermitage \u00e0 Saint-Petersbourg, la toile avait \u00e9t\u00e9 confisqu\u00e9e \u00e0 son propri\u00e9taire lors de la r\u00e9volution bolch\u00e9vique de 1917 et jamais rendue depuis. Or, cette toile vient d\u2019\u00eatre pr\u00eat\u00e9e \u2013 avec beaucoup d\u2019autres &#8211; pour une exposition organis\u00e9e par le mus\u00e9e de La Royal Academy de Londres. Et pour \u00e9viter toute r\u00e9clamation d\u2019h\u00e9ritiers spoli\u00e9s, la Grande-Bretagne vient tout simplement de promulguer une loi accordant l&#8217;immunit\u00e9 judiciaire aux oeuvres confi\u00e9es temporairement par des mus\u00e9es \u00e9trangers. Autrement dit, impossible \u00e0 quiconque de r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer son bien ! Cette disposition l\u00e9gislative britannique contrevient aux conventions internationales qui s\u2019attachent au respect de la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 des oeuvres.
